This will be a big-think conversation about the future of democracy in Europe and around the world. What might it look like if our governmental systems better wove together deliberative and majoritarian democratic power? What about the problem of elites, and the failures of majority groups to “represent in turn”? In a globally interconnected world, how ought we to see the problem of “them” continuing to haunt us? If in a true open democracy “there is only us,” how do we deal with deep differences of religious pluralism?
