Religion and Journalism: An Integrating Workshop

From the Michael Cromartie 2024 Forum in Washington, DC

Molly Ball,

Miranda Kennedy,

To synthesize the five preceding sessions, this closing workshop facilitated by a WSJ senior national reporter and a Vox senior editor will invite participating journalists to relate the implications of the forum to their daily reporting responsibilities and vocational calling. How might we better cover the nuanced parts of religion in America? Are there ways that doing so better honors the motivations of people featured in a story? What biases can we illuminate—and overcome? A practical, hands-on activity will invite participating journalists to reflect on their own ongoing pursuit of truth—and share takeaway findings with other journalists in this year’s cohort.
