Emerging Trends in Jewish Life and Religion

From the Faith Angle Miami 2022 Forum in Miami, FL

Alan Cooperman, Director of Religion Research, Pew Research Center

Elliott Abrams, Senior Fellow, Middle Eastern Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations

This session will explore Jewish life in America. Our speakers will discuss what the newest Pew numbers and other studies suggest about the American Jewish community’s size, vigor, and possible futures.  How do family lineage and ethnic identity relate to Jewish religious commitment, and how is that changing in the United States? Are American Jews becoming less attached to or supportive of Israel, and what is the relevance of Israel to American Jewish life today–and tomorrow? How are the openness of American society, high rates of intermarriage, political polarization, and the continuing challenge of antisemitism affecting Jewish family life, religious and political affiliations, relationships to Israel, and sense of community solidarity?
